Champions Trophy Day 2025

Jake Brooke24 Jul - 16:41

Champions Trophy Day – Celebrating the Future of Hockey at Old Hales!

The sun shone, the goals flew in, and the smiles said it all – Our annual Champions Trophy Day was a roaring success!

Each year, this special event brings together our amazing junior players, proud parents, dedicated coaches, and brilliant volunteers for a celebration of all that’s great about junior hockey at Old Halesonians Hockey Club. From our littlest juniors picking up sticks for the first time to our confident Under-16s showing off their skills, the day was a showcase of energy, enthusiasm, and team spirit.

Champions Trophy Day isn’t about who wins or loses – it’s about giving every player the chance to shine, build confidence, and enjoy hockey in a safe, fun, and friendly environment. We’re incredibly proud of the supportive community we’ve built around junior hockey, and this event is a reminder of just how special that is.

While the day was full of winners in spirit, there were a few standout honours worth shouting about:

Champions Trophy Winners – Team New Zealand rose to the occasion and took home the top prize after a day of brilliant teamwork and determination.

Champions Trophy Day at Old Hales would not be possible without those those who volunteered their time to bring enjoyment to everyone who attended. Thanks to Tom & Deck and the rest of their team for organising such a fantastic event. Thanks to Lauren for making sure all of those fixtures ran perfectly to time. Thank you to the team at Matt's Baps including Sarah, Gemma, Matt, Robyn & Josh and finally to all those who supported the day.

Finally, with pre-season training just around the corner, now is the perfect time to join the fun. Whether you’re a returning player or brand new to hockey, we’ve got a space for you. Keep an eye on our socials and website for training times and how to get involved. Hockey is for everyone – and the next generation of champions starts here!
